We at SEED Eating Disorder Support Services are delighted to announce that The Goldsmith’s Company Charity has awarded us a grant for the second year running to support our Eating Disorders Educational Toolkit for schools.
The current Global pandemic has seen those developing Eating Disorders or relapsing increase dramatically, with our services needed more than ever. This funding will allow us to continue to help save young lives.
Judith Cobham-Lowe, OBE, Chairman of the Goldsmiths’ Education Committee, said: - Working alongside other charities the mission of the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity is to improve individual lives and make a positive and lasting impact on society. We have been involved in charitable giving for over 700 years. We’re proud to continue backing the important work of SEED Eating Disorder Support Services to help achieve this. We hope that the grant will further help the charity with its outreach work, building awareness with as many young people and parents as possible, and providing resources to prevent, tackle and understand childhood Eating Disorders.
Gemma Oaten, Manager and Patron of SEED Eating Disorder Support Services adds – The last 12 months have been incredibly tough for us all. The dramatic increase in referrals to us, both sufferers and carers, has been devastating to see. Yet, it also means that people are reaching out to seek help and that is so important and brave of those that do, because early intervention is key to recovery. This is why our Eating Disorders Educational Toolkit is so important to us as we know early intervention starts with awareness and education, which in turn will help us save lives. I know with my own journey as a young adolescent, my life could have been very different if I’d have had this resource in my school. We at SEED feel full of hope that we can make a real difference with the help of the wonderful Goldsmith’s Company Charity. We are excited to help change the narrative and see our young not just survive, but thrive. It matters.”
